Cuetec Surge nibs the birth of Technology
GLASS COMPOSITE GLUE: Cuetec AVID Surge nibs are made of multi-layer glass composite bonded to A-class oven-dried hard maple. This advanced, patent-pending construction and bonding process not only strengthens individual Surge spokes, but also increases the dynamic stiffness of the spoke. 0.75mm bonded glass composite layers run the entire length of the AVID tip and each layer is created to maximize performance and durability. The result of this layering process is a tip that has the feel of wood, the increased strength and longevity of composite layers. AIR LIGHT FRONT STRUCTURE: Less weight means less deflection. Benefiting from an extremely strong glass composite bonded construction, all AVID Surge shafts feature the Cuetec Air Light finish. This construction allows the AVID nib to be drilled longer than 10 inches, creating an ultra-stiff cavity with much less mass, resulting in a more accurate and durable nib. POWER+ PHENOLIC END: Only 7 mm long, rock-hard Power+ phenolic sleeve on each AVID Surge shaft protects more than just the point of impact. It contributes to the Surge’s increased energy delivery and provides a more stable platform for tip maintenance and replacement, increasing shaft life.

AVID CARE & MAINTENANCEt Maintenance of the surface of Cuetec AVID nibs. Cuetec AVID nibs should never be polished or modified. Using any kind of abrasive on the surface of the tip can damage it and weaken the glass composite bond layers of the tip and release potentially harmful substances that can be dangerous to your health. Any polishing, sanding, or treatment of the tip surface with abrasives or chemicals will void the tip’s warranty. Never use dusting powder for Cuetec AVID nibs. To clean the surface of the Cuetec AVID nib, you only need a few materials; Isopropyl alcohol (75% or higher) and two (2) clean soft wipes. Step 1. Remove dust and dirt from the tip with a soft Cloth Step 2. Apply a reasonable amount (75% or higher) of isopropyl alcohol to a clean, soft towel. Then work the towel up and down the length of the tip while moving your hand around the circumference. It is possible that the towel will show dirt. This is completely normal. Continue working the tip in the same motion until all areas have been thoroughly wiped, then allow some time for the surface to dry. Changing the skin on the Cuetec AVID shaft. Cuetec AVID tips have a light, white ferrule end. This design into the front structure of the AVID shaft makes it easier to replace the leather and increases its life. When changing the skin, it is important to clean and resurface the sheath. The minimum height of the shaft must be greater than 2mm to maintain the shaft’s warranty coverage. * Never allow a skilled “craftsman” to sand or modify the surface of the shaft when installing a new skin. Replacement of the Cuetec AVID tip ring. Although it is unlikely that a Cuetec AVID shaft ring will need to be replaced, it should be done by an authorized Cuetec repair center. This is necessary due to the complex nature of the binders used and to ensure that the glass composite adhesive layers of the tip are not damaged. To find an authorized repair center near you, contact customerservice@cuetec.com. AVID cue weight adjustment Cuetec AVID cues use a cartridge based weight system to adjust cue weight. Remove the stop using a 10mm hex key. After removing the bumper, insert a Phillips head screwdriver into the bottom, turning it to the left to remove the built-in weights. Cuetec Acueweights are available in .25 .oz, .05 .oz and 1.0 .oz increments. Refunds Cuetec AVID tips have a limited lifetime warranty against deformation. Abuse Cuetec AVID tips are not designed to tolerate significant lateral pressure. They should never be bent excessively, bumped against other objects, or treated with abrasives, whether solid or liquid. Stick diameter Cuetec AVID tip diameters should never be modified. Any kind of grinding or polishing can endanger the ultra-thin surface layer of the glass bond and immediately invalidate the warranty of the AVID tip.
